Southern Railway Scouts and Guides Quota Recruitment 2026: Educational Qualification
The required qualification varies according to the level and post.
- For Level 2, candidates generally need to have passed Class 12 with at least 50% marks. For specified technical categories, candidates may also qualify with Matriculation along with Act Apprenticeship or an NCVT-approved ITI qualification.
- The 50% requirement is not applicable to SC/ST candidates, ex-servicemen and candidates having qualifications higher than Class 12, as prescribed in the notification.
- For Level 1, candidates should possess the prescribed qualification such as Class 10, ITI/equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC), depending on the post.
Age Limit
The age will be calculated as on 1 January 2027.
For Level 2 posts:

- OBC: 18–33 years
- SC/ST: 18–35 years
For Level 1 posts:
- UR: 18–33 years
- OBC: 18–36 years
- SC/ST: 18–38 years
Additional relaxation is available for eligible categories according to Railway rules. Separate upper-age limits are prescribed for PwBD candidates.
Application Fee
- Candidates under the regular fee category have to pay ₹500. An amount of ₹400 is refundable after appearing in the examination, after applicable bank charges.
- Candidates eligible for the concessional fee have to pay ₹250, which is refundable after appearing in the examination, subject to applicable bank charges.
Candidates applying for both Level 1 and Level 2 must submit separate applications and fees.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of a written/hybrid examination and evaluation of Scouts and Guides certificates.
- Written/Hybrid Examination: 60 marks
- Scouts & Guides Certificates: 40 marks
- Total: 100 marks
The written examination is of one hour duration. It includes objective questions and an essay component. There is 1/3 negative marking for incorrect objective answers.
Candidates must obtain the prescribed minimum qualifying marks for their category.
